Clear-Vax set 26: France, part 1 (1/72 scale)

1. Dassault M.D.450 Ouragan. Suggested kit: Heller M.D.450.

The Clear-Vax canopy is sectioned for display in the open position.

2. Dassault Super Mystère B2. Suggested kit: Airfix Super Mystère.

The Clear-Vax canopy is intended for display in the open position. For a neater windscreen fit, cut away the fuselage and fit the Clear-Vax windscreen in its entirety. Note the position of rear section when fully open.

3. A.N.F. Mureaux 117. Suggested kit: Heller/SMER Mureaux 117.

The Clear-Vax parts directly replace the kit items. Note that the rear section is closed. Carefully cut away the excess plastic at the front of this piece. Fit the clear armourglass using the kit piece as a guide.

4. Morane Saulnier M.S.225 & 230. Suggested kits: Heller/SMER M.S.225 & 230.

The Clear-Vax windscreen directly replaces the kit item.

5. Dewoitine D.500/501 & D.510. Suggested kits: Heller/SMER D.500/501 & D.510.

The Clear-Vax windscreen directly replaces the kit item.
6. Dewoitine D.520. Suggested kit: Hasegawa D.520.

The Clear-Vax canopy is sectioned for display in the open position. Use the kit rear windows.

7. Morane Saulnier M.S.406. Suggested kit: Hasegawa M.S.406.

The Clear-Vax canopy is sectioned for display in the open position, and directly replaces the kit part. Suggested references: Profile 147; Scale Aviation Modeller International, October 1997; Replic Nos 30 & 58.
8. Bloch MB-152. Suggested kit: Heller/SMER MB-152.

Using the drawing as a guide, cut away the kit fuselage at the lines arrowed X, Y and Z. Fit the Clear-Vax canopy in place, noting that the sliding section overlaps the rear fixed piece.

9. Lioré-et-Olivier 45 & 451. Suggested kits: Heller/SMER LeO 45 & LeO 451.

The unusual breakdown of the Clear-Vax nose parts is designed to avoid over-thinning of the plastic. Great care is recommended in cutting out and assembling these parts. Remove the piece marked X from the kit fuselage before fitting the nose in place. The main canopy directly replaces the kit part. The dorsal turret is shown fully extended. Carefully enlarge the opening to fit this piece. Note that these pieces all have some internal framing that will need to be added from the inside. Use the kit parts as a guide.

10. Caudron C.714. Suggested kit: Heller/SMER C.714.

In order to fit the Clear-Vax canopy, either carefully cut the rear fuselage decking away from the canopy and fit in place, or cut the rear decking away from the kit fuselage at the dotted line marked X and fit the Clear-Vax canopy in its entirety.

11. Bréguet 693. Suggested kit: Heller/SMER Bre.693.

In order to fit the pilot's canopy, carefully cut away the kit fuselage at the line marked X until the correct line is achieved. The rear canopy directly replaces the kit item. If displaying the bomb doors open, leave part of the backing sheet attached as this can serve as the walls of the bomb bay and make attachments easier.

12. Potez 631. Suggested kit: Heller Potez 631.

In order to fit the Clear-Vax canopy, carefully trim the kit cockpit sill, at the lines marked X, down to the level of the forward sliding section. The windscreen has been lengthened for better accuracy, and fits a little further forward than the kit item.

13. Potez 63-11. Suggested kit: Heller Potez 63-11.

In order to fit the Clear-Vax nose canopy, carefully cut away the kit nose at the lines marked X, Y and Z (left side) and line Y (right side). Much care is required in cutting out and assembling the Clear-Vax nose parts. The pilot's canopy directly replaces the kit item.
