Clear-Vax set No.46: USAAF World War 2, part 4 (1/72 scale)

1. Convair B-24J (armoured canopy) & B-24M. Suggested kit: Suggested kits: Academy/Minicraft B-24H, J & M.

Drawing 1 shows the B-24J armoured main canopy as fitted to a number of 8th Air Force B-24s. The cockpit canopy, bombardier window, astrodome, nose side blisters and top turret directly replace the kit items. Use the kit ball turret and small side windows. To fit the nose and tail turret parts, carefully cut way the clear areas from the kit pieces before fitting the replacements on top. Also included are some spare main canopy side blisters, which were often fitted to the nose of 8AF B-24H & J aircraft. Drawing 1A shows the B-24M. In order to fit the Clear-Vax bombardier window, cut away the corresponding area from the kit nosepieces at the lines marked X and Y. We have made no attempt to reproduce the Emerson nose turret, as its excessive depth precludes vacuform moulding.
